Getting married (no, not me!)

I’m waiting for my sister to get back to finish telling me her love story so I can type it up to be read tomorrow.

In the meantime, the basic and well-known truth is hitting me that getting married is a big deal.  A really big deal.

It’s a lot of work to make a wedding happen, but getting married is a way bigger deal than just the initial work.  As the rehearsal happened tonight and they got to the vows, I got choked up and realized all over again that this changes life forever for my sister and her husband-to-be.

So several dresses that will probably not be worn again, miles of green fabric cut and sewn, a bazillion tablecloths steamed, and 125 calla lilies arranged later, the best is yet to come.

Forgive the poor quality of this post.  After hundreds of gummy bears, my brain is feeling rather gummy as well.

  1. that sounds pretty much terrifying. not the gummy bears, but the marriage. gummy bears are scary too, like if you lick them and throw them at the car next to you driving down the highway at 80 miles an hour. but marriage definitely is scarier. think you’ll be in that boat any time soon?
