Nets for Uganda– You may have heard of the UNICEF plan to provide mosquito nets as a malaria prevention. This post discusses some of the difficulties of getting them to the people who most need them, written by a couple of doctors in Uganda.
From C.S. Lewis- I was reading a bit from The Joyful Christian, a compilation of excerpts from various books by Lewis, when I found this quote that got me thinking:
It seems to me that we often, almost sulkily, reject the good that God offers us because, at that moment, we expected some other good. On every level of our life–in our religious experience, in our gastronomic, erotic, aesthetic, and social experience–we are always harking back to some occasion which seemed to us to reach perfection, setting that up as a norm, and depreciating all other occasions. but these other occasions, I now suspect, are often full of their own new blessing, if only we would lay ourselves open to it.
God shows us a new facet of the glory, and we refuse to look at it because we’re still looking at the old one.
Please pray- A former teammate from a Mexicali trip had bone cancer in his knee last year, and thought he beat it (knee replacement, radiation, and chemo later). Now, he’s 20 years old and they just found a bunch of cancer in his lungs. Please pray that the work of Jesus on the cross would be affected in his life.
Last, but not least- This week is Vacation Bible School at my church. Pray for the kiddos and staff to all know Jesus better by the end of the week!
