on American soil- briefly

I know- I just got here! But I got the opportunity to go to S&R (a Costco-look alike that sells Kirkland Signature and Member’s Mark products) with Marla and Jenny, another teammate. On our way home, Marla took us to the Manila US Armed Forces Cemetery. Think Arlington in Asia. Technically, it is U.S. soil, just like the Embassy would be, and Embassy staff checked us in. We visited only briefly, but it was quite a place.

Crosses (and a few stars for Jewish servicemen) mark each grave.

Beautiful mosaics depict the major battles of World War II in S.E. Asia.

These pillars contain the names of the missing in action from the US and the Philippines.
